“GMA” Increases its Margins Over “Today” by Triple Digits Year-to-Year in Total Viewers (+109%) and Demo (+245%)

“GMA” is Delivering its Widest Adults 25-54 Season MarginOver “Today” in 22 Years

ABC News’ “Good Morning America” ranked as the No.1 morning newscast in Total Viewers (4.658 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.628 million) for the week of June 29, 2015, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “GMA” led “Today” (4.168 million and 1.497 million, respectively) by 490,000 Total Viewers and by 131,000 Adults 25-54.

“GMA” increased its year-to-year (on w/o 6/30/14) margins of victory over “Today” by triple digits in both Total Viewers (+109% - 490,000 vs. 235,000) and Adults 25-54 (+245% - 131,000 vs. 38,000). In fact, “GMA” turned in its largest news demo lead over “Today” in 5 weeks – since w/o 5/25/15.

“GMA” improved week to week in Adults 25-54 (+1% - 1.628 million vs. 1.615 million on w/o 6/22/15), standing as the only morning newscast to grow as “CBS This Morning” was flat, while “Today” (-8%) was down.

“GMA” was up over the year-ago week in Total Viewers (+3% - 4.658 million vs. 4.540 million on w/o 6/30/14).

Season to date, “GMA” is the No. 1 morning newscast in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. “GMA” is leading “Today” by 574,000 Total Viewers and by 120,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, “GMA” has increased its season margin over “Today” versus the same point last season in Adults 25-54 (+12% - 120,000 vs. 107,000).

Furthermore, ranking No. 1 for the 3rd-straight season in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54, “GMA” is seeing its widest Adults 25-54 margin over “Today” in 22 years – since the 1992-93 season.

During the week, “GMA” beat “CBS This Morning” in Total Viewers (+50%/+1.553 million), Adults 25-54 (+84%/+741,000) and Adults 18-49 (+79%/+477,000).

Note: Due to the July 4th holiday, all three programs were coded as specials on Friday and each telecast was excluded from the averages. The weekly averages for all three programs are based on 4 days (Mon-Thurs).
