“This Week” Ranks No. 1 for the 4th Consecutive Week in Adults 25-54, Leading in 17 of the Final 20 Sundays of the Season

2014-15 Season:

“This Week” ranked as the No. 1 public affairs program in Adults 25-54 (878,000) for the 2014-15 season, based on Most Current Data from Nielsen Media Research. “This Week’s” victory represented its first winning season in the key adult news demo in 21 years – since the 1993-94 season. In addition, “This Week” ranked No. 1 in Adults 25-54 in 26 weeks of the season, marking its most number of No. 1 finishes during the course of a season also in 21 years – since the 1993-94 season.

Further, “This Week’s” 21-year high of weekly wins included a stretch of 11 consecutive weeks (5/31 – 8/9/15), its longest run at No. 1 in 24 years – since at least September 1991, the start of Nielsen’s electronic database.

For the 2nd season in a row, “This Week” outdelivered NBC’s “Meet the Press” in Adults 25-54, increasing its season-to-season lead by 60% (+64,000 vs. 40,000). In fact, “This Week” saw its largest news demo lead over the NBC program in 21 years – since the 1993-94 season.

“This Week” beat CBS’ “Face the Nation” (851,000) by 27,000, leading the CBS program in the key adult news demo for the first time in 6 seasons – since the 2008-09 season.

“This Week” improved in Adults 25-54 (+6% - 878,000 vs. 831,000) versus the previous season. In fact, growing its Adults 25-54 performance for the 3rd year in a row, “This Week” delivered its strongest news demo performance in 6 years – since the 2008-09 season. In addition, “This Week” was up the most in Adults 25-54, compared to CBS’ “Face the Nation” (-2%), NBC’s “Meet the Press” (+3%) and Fox’s “Fox News Sunday” (+1%).

3Q 2015:

ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” ranked No. 1 for the 3rd quarter 2015 in Adults 25-54 (881,000), based on Most Current Data from Nielsen Media Research. After also winning 2Q15, “This Week” scored its first back-to-back news demo quarter wins in more than 20 years – since 1Q94 and 2Q94, respectively.

In addition, “This Week” turned in its first back-to-back 3rd quarter victories in Adults 25-54 in more than 24 years – since at least September 1991, the start of Nielsen’s electronic database.

“This Week” turned in a dominant Adults 25-54 performance during the 3rd quarter in ranking No. 1 in the key adult news demo in 10 of the 12 weeks.

“This Week” led NBC’s “Meet the Press” (821,000) by 60,000 Adults 25-54 to post its 3rd consecutive 3rd quarter news demo win and its 9th straight quarter victory overall.

“This Week” defeated CBS’ “Face the Nation” (698,000) by its biggest Adults 25-54 advantage (+183,000) during a 3rd quarter in 17 years and largest during any quarter in over 16 years – since 3Q98 and 2Q99, respectively.

For the 2nd year in a row, “This Week” built on the year-ago 3rd quarter (2.602 million and 787,000, respectively on 3Q14) in both Total Viewers (+11%) and Adults 25-54 (+12%) to deliver its most-watched 3rd quarter in 14 years and its best key adult news demo number in 6 years – since 3Q01 and 3Q09, respectively. During 3Q15, “This Week” posted year-to-year gains in 10 of the 12 weeks in Total Viewers and 9 of 12 in Adults 25-54.

September 20, 2015:

ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” ranked No. 1 for the 4th straight week in a row in Adults 25-54 (878,000) on September 20, 2015, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. Leading in the key adult news demo in 17 of the final 20 Sundays of the season, “This Week” outperformed CBS’ “Face the Nation” (756,000) by 122,000 and NBC’s “Meet the Press” (832,000) by 46,000.

For the 5th week in a row, “This Week” improved on the same Sunday last year in Total Viewers (+2% - 2.898 million vs. 2.840 million on 9/21/14). In fact, “This Week” has posted year-to-year growth in 9 of the last 10 weeks.
