“This Week” Wins First 4 Weeks of the Season in Adults 25-54, Delivering its Strongest Competitive Start to a Season in 22 Years

— -- ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” ranked No. 1 in Adults 25-54 (849,000) on October 18, 2015, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. Leading in the first 4 weeks of the season, “This Week” is posting its best competitive start to a season in the key adult news demo in 22 years – since the 1993-94 season. Further, “This Week” has ranked No. 1 in the key adult news demo for the 8th straight week.

In Adults 25054, “This Week” (849,000) beat NBC’s “Meet the Press” (768,000) by 81,000 and CBS’ “Face the Nation” (672,000) by 177,000.

“This Week” scored double-digits gains year to year (2.540 million and 769,000, respectively, for 10/19/14) in both Total Viewers (10%) and Adults 25-54 (+10%). In addition, “This Week” was up the most from its year-ago telecast in the key adult news demo compared to CBS’ “Face the Nation” (-10%), NBC’s “Meet the Press” (+1%) and Fox’s “Fox News Sunday” (-2%).

Season to date, “This Week” ranks as the No. 1 public affairs program in Adults 25-54 (939,000), leading CBS’ “Face the Nation” (740,000) by 199,000 and NBC’s “Meet the Press” (811,000) by 128,000. In fact, “This Week’s” news demo lead over “Face the Nation” is its largest at this point of a season in 17 years – since the 1998-99 season. In addition, “This Week” is beating “Meet the Press” in the key adult news demo season to date for the 2nd year in a row.

“This Week” is improving in both Total Viewers (+6% - 3.036 million vs. 2.863 million) and Adults 25-54 (+13% - 939,000 vs. 833,000) versus its year-ago season averages to post its strongest start to a season in 7 years – since the 2008-09 season.
