High school senior Patrick Farves said he was suspended for standing up during a school assembly and asking Nina Davuluri, the current Miss America to prom, according to the Associated Press.

Unfortunately for Farves, a student at Central York High school in York, Pa., Davuluri laughed off the invitation and Favres was suspended for three days.

School officials had heard about Farves' plan in advance and warned him not to do it.

With any luck he’ll be back at school in time for prom, even if he is without a date.
