— -- The Cleveland Cavaliers have reached a deal with the Denver Nuggets to acquire longtime target Timofey Mozgov for two future first-round draft picks, a source told ESPN's Chris Broussard.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Cavaliers, who have been pursuing Mozgov for months to fill their huge need for a basket protector, agreed to send the draft picks to the Nuggets for Mozgov after Denver rejected months of trade proposals for the Russian center.?

The Cavaliers acquired an extra future first-round pick to peddle from Oklahoma City as part of the three-team trade it struck with the Thunder and New York Knicks on Monday in which Cleveland acquired J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert and surrendered Dion Waiters.

Mozgov played for first-year Cavs coach David Blatt on the Russian national team and had been targeted by Cleveland going back to the summer as the ideal candidate to fill the club's glaring need for a rim presence defensively, which has only grown in the wake of Anderson Varejao's season-ending Achilles injury last month.
