No charges against OF Yasiel Puig
— -- Reckless driving charges against Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig have been dropped, according to a report in the News-Press of southwest Florida.
The 23-year-old Puig was arrested and charged with reckless driving last month for allegedly driving 110 mph in a 70 mph zone in Florida. Authorities said he was pulled over in a white Mercedes and taken to the Collier County Jail for processing.
According to the News-Press, the state attorney's office dropped those charges due to a lack of sufficient evidence in the case. The speeding ticket still stands.
Puig also was arrested last April, when he was still in the minors, and charged with reckless driving and speeding in Chattanooga, Tenn., after police clocked him going 97 mph in a 50 mph zone. The charges were dismissed in November after Puig completed community service in Los Angeles.
After his most recent arrest, Puig told Dodgers president Stan Kasten that he had hired his cousin to drive him around for the time being.
"I give him credit for taking that step if nothing else," Kasten said during a radio appearance on ESPNLA 710.
