— -- The Baltimore Orioles made a pair of roster moves Sunday, activating star first baseman Chris Davis from the 15-day disabled list and placing catcher Matt Wieters on the DL.

Davis, who spent the minimum time sidelined with a strained left side, was in the starting lineup and batting third Sunday against the Houston Astros.

Although the Orioles got back Davis, they lost Wieters, who was placed on the DL with a right elbow strain.

Davis, who led the majors in home runs and RBIs last season, went on the DL on April 27, retroactive to April 26, after being pulled from a game against Kansas City. His rehabilitation assignment lasted only one game -- a 1-for-4 outing Saturday night for Class A Bowie.

Davis was off to a slow start this season prior to the oblique injury, batting .250 with two homers and 13 RBIs in his first 22 games.

Wieters, who is batting .308 with five homers and 18 RBIs this season, previously had hoped to avoid a DL trip after having his elbow examined earlier this week by Dr. James Andrews.
