— -- ST. LOUIS -- Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton was carted off the field in the third quarter of Thursday's game against the St. Louis Rams with a right knee injury, according to a press box announcement.

It was announced that he was questionable to return.

Stanton was sacked by Rams defensive tackle  Aaron Donald with about 8:41 left in the third when he hopped to the sideline on his right foot. After team doctors and trainers examined him on the sideline, Stanton was carted off the field.

Ryan Lindley took his place at quarterback.

Lindley re-signed with the Cardinals on Nov. 11 after Carson Palmer was lost for the season with a torn ACL, also suffered against the Rams, in Week 10. A six-yard completion to Michael Floyd in the third quarter that put the Cardinals in field goal range was Lindley's first pass since 2012.
