So far, so good: Brady Ellison reached the round of 16 in the individual archery competition but had to go through teammate Jake Kaminski to get there. The teammates were in the same bracket and won their opening matches, but Eliison edged out Kaminski with a 6-2 victory. Ellison might have to go through another teammate to reach the quarters, as Zach Garrett could join him in the round of 16.

Opening win: The U.S. women's water polo team beat Spain 11-4 to start the tournament. Kiley Neushult, team captain Maggie Stephens and Courtney Mathewson each had two goals. Preliminary play continues Thursday, as the Americans face China in Group B (noon ET start)

Another medal for veteran Dutton: Riding the horse Mighty Nice, six-time Olympian Philip Dutton took home the bronze medal in the individual three-day eventing competition. He finished with a score of 51.80. It is the third Olympic medal for Dutton, who won team gold for his native Australia in 1996 and 2000.
