— -- A win by the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night resulted in a local company rebating customers who spent $1.7 million on window installation, siding, doors and other services.

Universal Windows Direct offered a promotion during all of July that any customer who did business with the company would receive a full rebate if the Indians went on a 15-game winning streak any time between Aug. 1 and the end of the season.

On Thursday night, Universal Windows co-owners William Barr and Mike Strmac and their customers had a watch party at Progressive Field, as the Indians beat the White Sox 11-2 in Chicago for their 15th straight win.

"I never believed it was going to happen, so I only started paying attention yesterday," said Lorianne Sevic, who with her husband Dan paid the company to do $34,000 worth of windows, siding, doors and gutters in July that they will now get for free.

Barr said the idea came to him thanks to the fact that the company was celebrating its 15th anniversary. He said he spent $75,000 for the insurance to cover the $1.7 million in sales. The company now has to submit a claim to the insurance company, and Universal Windows should have its money within a week to then dole out to its customers.

The streak, which began Aug. 24, included a win over the Red Sox, three wins over the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees and four wins over the Detroit Tigers and the White Sox.

The 15 straight wins is a franchise record, surpassing a streak of 14 last season. The 15-game winning streak is the longest in Major League Baseball since the Oakland A's won 20 in a row in 2002.
