— -- Kevin Durant will not play against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday because of a sprained right ankle suffered Thursday against the Golden State Warriors.

Durant will be re-evaluated on Saturday and remains day to day with the injury. The Thunder host the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday.

Durant injured his ankle seconds before halftime against the Warriors, stepping on Marreese Speights' foot on a drive to the basket. Durant, who had scored 30 points in the opening half, did not return to the game. He had X-rays as a precaution, and results were negative.

"I was a little nervous," Durant said following the game. "But I knew when I got up and started walking it felt good. So I just wanted to make sure with the X-rays everything was good."

The injury isn't considered serious, as Durant left the arena on Thursday not wearing a walking boot or crutches, only carrying a mild limp.

Durant underwent surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot in October, missing six weeks because of it. He's played in nine games since, all under a minute restriction that was recently lifted from 30 to 35. He said after the game on Thursday he could have returned, but was advised by the team's medical staff to sit.

"They had to convince me not to play," he said. "It was the foot I had surgery. I wanted to play, I wanted to go back out there, but they just wanted to be cautious."

This will be Durant's 18th game missed this season. Previously in his seven-year career, he had missed a total of 16 games.

The Thunder, who are 12-14 and sit 1.5 games out of eighth in the West, are just 5-12 in games without Durant this season.
