Larry Lucchino out as Red Sox president, CEO; been with team since 2002

— -- Larry Lucchino is leaving his role as the Boston Red Sox's president and CEO, the team confirmed Saturday.

Lucchino has been with the Red Sox since February 2002. His contract was set to expire at the end of the year.

Red Sox executive vice president and chief operating officer Sam Kennedy is expected to replace Lucchino as team president.

Lucchino will turn 70 in September.
