LeBron and his superstar friends cast All-Star votes for each other
— -- The voting process for the NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 14 is open to all -- and NBA stars are taking advantage. At the superstar level, LeBron James and his coterie of pals, including Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul, all cast Twitter votes for the others to clinch a spot in the game, although their status was likely never in doubt.
James kicked things off a couple days after Anthony launched a campaign for himself. James included his Cavaliers teammates Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love along with his buddies.
Soon after, Wade followed suit. He added Heat teammates Hassan Whiteside and Chris Bosh.
Then, Paul chimed in and spread the love. Four Clippers -- Blake Griffin, J.J. Redick, Jamal Crawford and DeAndre Jordan -- made his list. No emojis.
Anthony, who previously had only publicly promoted himself on Twitter, came back in the afternoon to cover his bases with Paul, Wade and James, and notably also threw a shoutout to Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis.
That's a supportive group of friends.
Not every NBA star loves the democracy of fan and player voting. John Wall called it a "joke" that he trailed Irving in votes when the first returns were announced on Christmas Day. Irving had just returned to action after sitting out until Dec. 20. The Cavaliers guard is still playing with a minutes limit.
Kobe Bryant, who is flirting with career lows in multiple stat categories, led all vote-getters after the first wave of votes were released.
Fans can vote via Twitter, NBA.com and Google, among other ways. Anyone can submit 10 votes per day until voting ends on the Monday before the game.
