— -- CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Ernest Turner scored 26 points to lead Maine to a 72-64 victory over Mercer in Friday's consolation game of the Dr Pepper Classic. Maine (4-8) led most of the second half although Mercer (1-7) pulled to within 65-64 with 2:40 left. Mercer did not score again, missing four field goal attempts, and shot just 32.8 percent for the game. Maine shot 47.4 percent, including 14 points from Philippe Tchekane Bofia and 10 from Jon Sheets. Mercer had just two players in double figures, Will Emerson with 14 and Andrew Brown with 11. Maine led 17-2 with 15:13 left in the first, but the Bears took the lead at 40-38 late in the first half and led 43-38 at halftime. They stretched the lead to 47-40 in the second before the Black Bears rallied, going ahead for good on a layup by Chris Bruff at 12:41.
