Martin Brodeur would welcome trade
— -- Six goaltenders have already been moved since Friday, and with a few hours left until the NHL trade deadline passes at 3 p.m. ET Wednesday, the action may not be done.
Martin Brodeur is among the most notable netminders left on the market, and a source with knowledge of his situation confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com that the New Jersey Devils goalie would welcome an opportunity for a change in scenery.
Whether Brodeur has explicitly requested a trade from the Devils to general manager Lou Lamoriello was not immediately known. But the list of potential landing spots for the 41-year-old, all-time wins leader has thinned since Tuesday.
Brodeur told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun that he would accept whatever Lamoriello decides to do, saying he's ready for a new challenge if traded.
Though many speculated that the Minnesota Wild were the most logical landing spot for Brodeur, who has two teenage sons at the nearby Shattuck-St. Mary's prep school, the Wild addressed the position Tuesday by acquiring Ilya Bryzgalov.
Brodeur played Tuesday night in what may be his last game with the Devils, making 20 saves in New Jersey's 4-3 win against the Detroit Red Wings. Brodeur has a 2.49 goals-against average and .899 save percentage this season.
He has played only twice in the past month, however, with Cory Schneider earning the No. 1 job in New Jersey.
