— -- Michigan?starting left tackle Grant Newsome will miss the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury, coach Jim Harbaugh announced Monday.

Newsome injured his right knee during the first half of Saturday's victory over No. 8 Wisconsin. He hobbled off the field with the help of two trainers. Harbaugh said the damage was "as serious as a knee injury can be."

"We're praying for him right now," Harbaugh said. "It's not a good feeling at all."

Harbaugh said he wasn't sure yet how long the recovery process would be for Newsome or whether it could have longer-term implications on the true sophomore's football career.

Junior Juwann Bushell-Beatty replaced Newsome during the second half Saturday. Harbaugh said the New Jersey native will be "Plan A" for Michigan's trip to Rutgers this weekend.

Harbaugh also said freshman Ben Bredeson and center Mason Cole, who played left tackle during his first two years at Michigan, are options to take over the spot.
