— -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Williams will be arraigned in Tampa on Feb. 24 on misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and trespassing, according to multiple media outlets.

The charges stem from an incident that took place this past December.

The Buccaneers have released a statement acknowledging Williams' pending legal situation.

"We have spoken with Mike and the local authorities about the charges that have been filed," team spokesman Nelson Luis said.

"All of our players are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the high character and moral responsibility that we demand as representatives of the Buccaneers' organization."

Williams, 26, appeared in just six games this past season and was placed on injured reserve in October due to a hamstring injury.

A fourth-year veteran, Williams signed a five-year extension worth $40 million prior to the 2013 season.
