— -- The seconds disappeared from the shot clock during the third quarter of Monday’s Nuggets-Bulls preseason game.

5 … 4 … 3 … 2 …

Denver center Jusuf Nurkic flipped the ball to guard Nate Robinson, who seemed to be situated miles beyond the three-point line, out of position to take a proper shot. The pass was off-line, drawing Robinson closer to half-court, his back to the basket.

With less than a second left on the shot clock, Robinson gathered the ball and chucked it, a 30-foot turnaround jumper. The ball barely left his hands before the buzzer sounded.

That Robinson attempted a shot was an accomplishment.

But then the ball happened to swish through the net. Three pointer. But this shot was from so far away, with so much difficulty, you feel like it should have been worth an extra point or two.

Robinson twisted around enough to see his jumper land then jogged back on defense as his teammates erupted on the sidelines. The Bulls won the game 110-90, but Robinson’s shot was the game’s key highlight.

The night was emotional for Robinson. He used to play for the Bulls, and this was only his second game back after knee surgery.

On his road to recovery, Robinson picked up a career highlight.

"I looked up and saw I only had about two seconds, I just had to get it up," Robinson told reporters after the game. "It was a crazy shot that just went in."
