On Saturday, McIlroy toyed with Rickie Fowler before closing with eagles at 16 and 18 for a 4-under 68 and a 6-shot lead heading into Sunday's final round.

McIlroy's play at Hoylake is reminiscent of many past dominant performances by Tiger Woods, who had a triple bogey and a double bogey on his way to a very forgettable 73 on Saturday.
