Phil Taylor has knee procedure

— -- BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Phil Taylor will miss several weeks after having an arthroscopic procedure on his knee, the team announced Wednesday.

Taylor was injured in Cleveland's 29-28 win over Tennessee on Sunday.

The team said in a news release that Taylor's return would be re-evaluated "in a few weeks."

Taylor, a first-round pick of the Browns in 2011, has started at left end in coach Mike Pettine's 3-4 system, with mixed results. He has just seven tackles, but Pettine and defensive coordinator Jim O'Neil said Taylor has done his job clogging rushing lanes.

The Browns will likely turn to Billy Winn or John Hughes with Taylor out, and they'll give Ishmaa'ily Kitchen more playing time.

Cornerback Joe Haden is dealing with hip soreness, but Pettine said he is "cautiously optimistic" Haden will play Sunday against Pittsburgh. He rode a stationary bike and was with trainers in the portion of practice open to media on Wednesday.

The Browns rank 31st in the league in total defense and are giving up 421.8 yards per game.
