Robert Griffin III carted to locker room

— -- Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and receiver DeSean Jackson both left Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with injuries and will not return.

Griffin was carted to the locker room in the first quarter after suffering a left ankle injury while rolling to his right toward the sideline.

Although he was not touched on the play, Griffin's leg was placed in a splint after the third-year quarterback fell awkwardly out of bounds. He waved, saluted and gave a thumbs-up signal to the crowd as he was carted along the sideline and down the players' tunnel.

Griffin was replaced by Kirk Cousins, who threw a 20-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and engineered another scoring drive in the second.

Jackson walked to the locker room in the first quarter with a left shoulder injury. The star receiver initially was listed as questionable to return, but Washington later announced he would not return.

Griffin is less than two years removed from reconstructive knee surgery and visibly struggled in his recovery from the operation last season.
