— -- Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will miss his second straight game with a sprained ankle Thursday night against the  Houston Rockets in their Western Conference first-round series, coach Steve Kerr said shortly before tipoff.

Curry missed Game 2 after he was hurt in the opener.

The Warriors overcame his absence and won 115-106 to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Curry injured his ankle during the second quarter of the team's Game 1 victory when he twisted the ankle after missing a shot as he turned to get back on defense.

Kerr had said he was encouraged by how Curry looked on Wednesday.

"You couldn't see anything today as far as a limp,'' Kerr said Wednesday. "So he's doing a lot better.''

Curry participated in Wednesday's practice but shot poorly to end his normal routine. When asked if he was missing, he joked, "A little bit. Y'all got here late."

When asked whether his ankle sprain is different from the others he has endured in the past, Curry said Wednesday the symptoms were but that "the way that I did it, it's very similar, so I just have to adjust accordingly."

Curry, whose 30.1 points per game in the regular season led the NBA, said he was impressed by the way his teammates stepped up without him in Game 2. Even though he has confidence that his teammates could perform like that again, he said he is itching to get back on the court.
