— -- BALTIMORE -- Steve Smith is reminding the Carolina Panthers what they let go with a big first half.

Smith had five receptions for 122 yards and two touchdowns as the Baltimore Ravens took a 21-7 lead over the Panthers into halftime.

Smith's big first half was a combination of determination and luck.

Early in the second quarter, Smith pulled in a deflected pass in stride for a 61-yard touchdown. Joe Flacco's pass went off the right hand of tight end Owen Daniels and right to Smith at the Carolina 45-yard line. Smith celebrated the touchdown with a bow in the end zone.

Later that quarter, Smith caught a 21-yard touchdown on a play that began with a mistake. Flacco had trouble with the exchange from center and the snap laid on the ground. He then picked up the ball and tossed it immediately to the left corner of the end zone, where Smith made the touchdown catch despite cornerback Melvin White grabbing his right arm.

Smith, 35, was cut by the Panthers in March after spending 13 seasons with the organization. He left as the Panthers' all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches.
