TCU 76, Jackson State 74

— -- FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- Brent Hackett hit two free throws with five seconds left Tuesday night to give TCU a 76-74 victory over Jackson State. Hackett scored seven of his 16 points in the final two minutes of the game as he keyed TCU's rally. The Horned Frogs (1-1) had led by seven at 65-58 with 6:08 left but Jackson State took a 68-67 lead with 2:56 left on a 3-pointer by Clinton Trey Johnson. Hackett hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 70-70. Hackett and Jackson State's Charlie White exchanged baskets late in the game before Hackett hit the free throws for the final margin. Jackson State (0-2) took a timeout after Hackett's free throws but wasn't able to get a final shot off. Judson Stubbs scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds for TCU. Nile Murry also had 14 points. Johnson led Jackson State with 24 points. White added 12. TCU led 39-33 at the half.
