— -- PHILADELPHIA -- Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Tony Romo was forced out of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles with an apparent injury to his left shoulder.

Romo was injured with 9:44 left in the third quarter when he was driven into the ground on a 6-yard sack and fumble by linebacker Jordan Hicks. Romo immediately grabbed for his left shoulder and went straight to the locker room for X-rays.

Hicks landed on Romo's left shoulder on a second-and-11 play. It was the third sack of Romo in the game. Brandon Weeden took over at quarterback for Dallas on the next offensive series.

In 2010, Romo missed the final 10 games of the season with a broken right collarbone. He missed the final game of the 2013 season because of a back injury that required surgery and forced him to miss the entire 2014 offseason.

Romo also missed one game last year with two transverse process fractures in his back. Before suffering the injury Sunday, Romo completed 18 of 27 passes for 195 yards.

The Cowboys are already playing without Dez Bryant, who had foot surgery last week, and left guard Ronald Leary, who has a groin strain.
