— -- Documents released Tuesday and obtained by the Hartford Courant give the first official glimpse at the reasons the Boston police view former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez as a suspect in a double homicide in Boston in 2012.

The Courant reports that evidence in the case police would propose to make against Hernandez includes surveillance footage that puts him in the same nightclub the victims were at shortly before they were killed and later in the vicinity of the killings, as well as informants' accounts that establish a connection.

The evidence also includes a Toyota 4Runner given to Hernandez by a rental company that investigators say might be the vehicle used in the killings. It was discovered in a garage in Bristol, Conn., at the home of one of Hernandez's cousins, where it had been gathering dust for a year.

Prosecutors in the Boston case have filed no charges.

Hernandez remains jailed in Massachusetts, charged in a separate case with first-degree murder in the shooting death of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd, a Boston resident who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail. It had been widely reported that Lloyd might have had knowledge about the Boston slayings.

In August, Massachusetts State Police recovered a gun they say was used in the double homicide, according to multiple reports.

The gun was found in the car of Jailene Diaz-Ramos, 19, after she was involved in an accident June 21 on Interstate 91 in Springfield, Mass., reports say. It's uncertain what connection Diaz-Ramos, who is from Hernandez's hometown of Bristol, has to Hernandez.
