March 17, 2013— -- intro: "Angry Birds," the popular smartphone app game, already has become one of the top paid apps of all time. This weekend, the franchise debuts its new animated series featuring the mad feathered creatures. Here's a look at some things you didn't know about "Angry Birds."

Now, Rovio Entertainment, the Finland-based company that launched "Angry Birds" is working to make the cartoon version of its beloved characters' adventures available across screens, including phones, tablets, computers and TVs. It has already struck a deal with Samsung to include its app on its Smart TVs.
"We want to combine the feel of cartoon classics with modern twists on an unprecedented scale. Our team has been working tremendously hard to once again delight our fans with a new way to experience these loveable characters", said Nick Dorra, head of animation at Rovio, in a news release.
The cartoon series will debut on TV March 16 and on all apps and video-on-demand platforms on March 17.
