Google Hangouts App Gets Smart Makeover
What you need to know about Google's changes.
— -- It's a double whammy: The Google Hangouts app for Android is getting smarter and prettier.
One of the biggest changes to the app are video filters. Think you look better in sepia? Want to give your video call an old-school black-and-white flair? Go for it by simply swiping through the filters during a hangout.
Another visual addition to Hangouts are 16 sticker packs, including everything from pirates to penguins.
Of course it's what's on the inside that really counts, and Google's update has that covered too.
Contacts will have "last seen" time stamps, making it easier to know if they're available. Hangouts will also offer smart suggestions during conversations, such the option to share your location with a friend in just one tap.
The updates are expected to roll out for Android devices today in the Google Play store, with the iOS changes being implemented in the coming weeks.
