— -- Need the perfect alibi? Forgot the name of that restaurant you had dinner at last week?

Google Maps and its new "Your Timeline" feature will remember everywhere you have been -- if you let it.

The feature lets users "visualize your real-world routines, easily see the trips you've taken and get a glimpse of the places where you spend your time," the search giant said in a blog post. Google Photos users will also get the bonus of seeing the pictures they took when resurfacing a certain day on their timeline.

Users can access their timeline on desktop and Android only if they have opted to store their location history on Google.

Gerard Sanz, a Google product manager, said in a blog post the feature is only visible to the person using it.

Getting rid of any incriminating stops is also easy.

Your Timeline allows users to remove specific stops, rename private places such as "Mom's House," or delete their entire history -- putting the feature entirely in the control of the user.
