Following Facebook's press event, CEO Mark Zuckerberg hit the traditional Facebook gong to ring in the launch of the new Graph Search feature.

Facebook's new Graph Search allows you to search and discover more about your friends and other information that's been put on the world's largest social site.

A blue bar will appear at the top of your Facebook page, allowing you to search for people, places and things.

Graph Search will allow you to search for photos. Here is a search for "Photos of friends before 1999."

You can narrow down the results with different criteria on the right side of the page.

Twenty four hours before the launch event on Jan. 15, the Graph Search team launched the product to a very small group. The team gathered around a desk to set the feature live.

Why is there a hammock in the office where Graph Search was built? Because that's where the engineers and developers who wrote the code for it slept on some nights.

Facebook tested Graph Search with real people in usability and research sessions.
