Harry Houdini, the magician known for his epic escape acts, was honored on his birthday with a logo made to look like the vintage posters used to promote Houdini's shows. Houdini was born on March 24, 1874, and lived until 1926.

To recognize jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie, Google decorated its homepage with a colorful doodle of him playing his trumpet. He was born in 1917 in Cheraw, S.C. and lived until 1993.

In honor of what would have been the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo's 103rd birthday, Google's homepage showed her in a doodle that reflected her own style. Kahlo died in 1954, but continued to receive recognition posthumously. In 2001, she became the first Hispanic woman to be honored with a U.S. postage stamp.
