Google I/O, Google's big developers' conference, took place in San Francisco on May 15, 2013. Over 6,000 software developers attended the three-day conference.

Google held a three-hour keynote on the first day of the event to announce new products. One of the first products it announced was Google All Access Play, a streaming music service, which costs $9.99 a month.

The Google All Access Play service lets you not only upload your own music but also stream thousands of songs through the service. You can create radio stations based on artists. It will be available for Android and the web starting today.

Google also announced a redesign to its Google Plus social network. The new design looks a bit like Pinterest, with updates appearing in rectangular and square-shaped boxes. You can click on the box to flip the card over and see more related content.

Google also released new photo features. A set of Auto-Awesome features automatically improves photos. Auto-Awesome will turn your photos into a moving image.

Google introduced a new messaging app called Hangouts. The app, which will be available for Android, web, and iOS, lets you chat with friends and video chat.

Google's head of search Amit Singhal took the stage to talk about how Google is building a "Star Trek" computer, which will understand you and what you want to know.

Singhal introduced Google's Conversational Search. In Chrome OS and in a Chrome browser you can now speak to search. For example, you can say "O.K., Google, find the closest coffee shop" and it will return the results right in the browser window. No need to tap the mic icon.

Google also announced major design changes to Google Maps at the conference.

The new Google Maps for the web puts the map front and center. All you will see is the map with a search field in the top left corner.

The new Maps will also pull in photos that others have taken of the location you have searched for.

There wasn't talk about the next version of Android at the conference, but you can't escape the Android presence.

"We are just getting started. The opportunities we have are tremendous. We haven't seen this rate of change in computing in a long time, probably not since the birth of personal computing," Google CEO and co-founder Larry Page said on stage at the end of the very long keynote.
