July 20, 2011— -- In today's TechBytes, another big day for Apple.

On the heels of a powerhouse earnings report, the company today releases its new Macintosh operating system.

OS X Lion brings some features from the iPhone and iPad to the Mac.

It'll also mark the first time Apple has released an operating system update primarily through downloads.

Speaking of Apple, some members of its board of directors are reportedly looking at who might succeed Steve Jobs as CEO.

Jobs has been on medical leave since January, although he appeared at an Apple event in March.

When the Wall Street Journal asked Jobs by email about the discussions, he called them, "hogwash."

Google+ Looks to Hollywood

And it looks as though Google+ is hoping to become the social network of choice in Hollywood.

The company is looking for ways to sign up celebrities for its new service, while keeping out impersonators.

Twitter already has a system in place to authenticate celebrity accounts. Facebook does not.
