April 1, 2011— -- BMW wants to improve your driving experience, through apps. The automaker plans to invest millions of dollars in companies developing software that makes it easier to get around cities.

It's looking for programs that do things such as help you find parking spaces, determine traffic conditions and even improve the commute for people who are not driving.

Amazon jumped out ahead of Apple's iTunes store this week. It launched Amazon Cloud Player, a digital locker that lets you store and listen to your music online. The service works on computers and Android mobile devices. USA Today's Ed Baig says it's really easy to use.

"Uploading the songs off your own PC or Mac is a pretty simple process, and it's a breeze to get any music that you actually buy from Amazon directly into the cloud because you can arrange it so it just ends up there automatically," Baig said.
