TechBytes: RIM to Lay Off 2,000 Workers

The BlackBerry maker struggles in the wake of increased competition.

July 26, 2011— -- In today's TechBytes, more trouble for the makers of BlackBerry. Research In Motion is laying off 2,000 workers, more than 10 percent of its total workforce.

BlackBerry is struggling to compete with the iPhone and the Android.

CityVille Launches in China

Zynga is introducing its popular CityVille game in China, with a few changes. It will be offered through an internet portal, not Facebook, which is banned in China.

Quiz Climber

The publishers of "Angry Birds" are bringing their signature animation to a new trivia game on Facebook, "Quiz Climber."

Parenting.com's Rachel Fishman Feddersen enjoys both the look of the game and the competitive elements.

"It's a fun, pretty addictive little game. The graphics are so cute that it's just fun to watch the little guy climb up, and you can see your friends and how high you are, and when you get a question right, you go up past them. And that's cool, too."
