— -- Ahead of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference today, CEO Tim Cook revealed what he believes is a crucial ingredient to keeping the world's most valuable company at the forefront of technology.

"The more people you get thinking about something that come at things from a different point of view, you wind up with a much better product that way," Cook told ABC San Francisco station KGO-TV in an exclusive interview.

When Cook, 54, gives the keynote speech today at the WWDC in San Francisco to an audience of about 5,000 people, among them will be 350 scholarship winners from diverse backgrounds.

One 12-year-old girl already has two apps in Apple's app store; a promising start for a group Cook and Apple view as future members of an even more inclusive work force.

"If you look at things over a five- or ten-year period," Cook said, "I think there could be a sea change in that kind of time frame. I really do."

WWDC will begin at 10 a.m. PT today at San Francisco's Moscone Center, where Cook is expected to introduce new iPhone and Mac features.

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference is an annual platform for the company to show off software developments and interact with developers to help drive new experiences on Apple's products
