Plenty of us want to travel somewhere exotic, but the potential price tag can be scary enough to make us stay home. But did you know there are plenty of amazing hotels around the world that cost a fraction of what a similar U.S. hotel would cost? Sure, you'll likely pay more in airfare, but do the math: There's a good chance the same travel dollars that could pay for a vacation stateside can take you to places you've only dreamed of.

TripAdvisor took a look at some of it's top-rated hotels around the world that are a relative bargain: Not one is more than $200 a night and one is $20 per night. Yes, that's right, $20 per night. Click through the next few pages to see that fabulous places you can visit on the cheap.

Private planes may land nearby just so passengers can have a quick pizza lunch at the Shannas Cove restaurant, but there's nothing pretentious about this highly-rated Caribbean resort. According to one TripAdvisor traveler, "Bartender away from the bar? Grab what you'd like and write it down on your tab." All rooms come with king beds and large refrigerators; rates begin at $180/night.

"How would you like to be waited on by two chefs of world renown while you have dinner on a large deck overlooking a magical rainforest, with a creek babbling in the background?" asked one TripAdvisor traveler who stayed at Cedar Park Rainforest Resort. This 4.5-star resort has a lazy river, tame wallabies in the garden, and double rooms starting at $132/night, including breakfast. (No kids under 14 are allowed, however.)

Asian Jewel Boutique Hotel has just five rooms, but plenty of fans on TripAdvisor. One traveler who got married at the hotel wrote, "The flowers themselves would have cost more in England that the entire day did here." Deluxe rooms are $120/night, including breakfast.

Blue Lagoon Beach Resort, Nacula Island, Fiji

This charming beachfront resort is remarkably family-friendly—as one TripAdvisor reviewer put it, "Brilliant for the kids, particularly the baby. She was treated like a princess—everyone wanted to hold her all the time!" There's a separate dinner time for kids (with complimentary babysitting), too. Rooms with king beds and private decks start at $90/night. However, if you're looking for an even cheaper stay, you can book a single bed in a dorm-style room that sleeps eight for $21 per person, per night. Even if you choose to add a full meal plan for an extra $46/day, this place is a great bargain.

Pousada Vila Pitanga earns high marks from TripAdvisor travelers for its "understated elegance" and extra-helpful owner. The pousada is walking distance from two beaches and the center of town, making it a perfect place to explore Buzios. And with rooms starting at just $88/night, it's easy on your wallet.

"If I could float anywhere for the rest of my life, it'd probably be [the Oriental Kwai Resort's] swimming pool," one TripAdvisor traveler wrote—which hopefully will give you some idea of how much reviewers like the pool at this intimate hotel in Kanchanaburi. At just $77/night for a garden view cottage that sleeps two, or $142 for a family cottage that sleeps six, it's an excellent deal.

Chances are, you're considering a vacation in Santorini to enjoy fabulous beaches and spectacular sunsets… both of which were free (last time we checked, anyway). So why run up a big hotel bill? The Zorzis Hotel's rooms start around $69/night. And the owners go the extra mile (literally) to help you save money. "Spiros actually drove me to his florist and negotiated flowers for my wedding reception (a lot cheaper than through my wedding planner) and made sure they delivered them on the wedding day," wrote one TripAdvisor traveler.

Single rooms start at just $32/night, but according to one TripAdvisor traveler, "The big bonus is that you can help yourself to basic food items in the communal kitchen area and cook up a feast!" It's located at the edge of the rainforest (which makes for great wildlife spotting), and the beach is a 15-minute walk away.
