— -- If 2008 election frenzy isn't enough for you, a political fix, 19th-century style, awaits in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Of, By, and For the People: The Art of Presidential Elections, at the Fenimore Art Museum through Dec. 31, features rare folk art from 19th-century presidential campaigns culled from historical societies and private collections.

The 1840 election, in which Democratic incumbent Martin Van Buren unsuccessfully squared off against "Tippecanoe" William Henry Harrison, was a pioneering campaign in terms of posters and public works of art. A banner touting Abraham Lincoln and running mate Andrew Johnson also is on display. Information: 888-547-1450; fenimoreartmuseum.org.
