Resorts are either upgrading or adding these poolside retreats.
Miami's new Mondrian South Beach from the trendy Morgans Hotel Group, the first U.S. property designed by avant-garde Dutchman Marcel Wanders, boasts white cabanas complemented by a giant decorative lamp and shade; a hotel lounge features cabanas lined with living foliage.
Whimsy even extends to an upscale adult sandbox, complete with pails and shovels.
Introductory rates are low by SoBe artsy-hotel standards — from $195 a night through February, depending on availability.
