No Charges Against Woman Who Vanished Before C-Section, But Unanswered Questions Remain

— -- Police declined to file criminal charges against a woman in North Carolina who vanished last week hours before she was scheduled to have a C-section -- only to reappear days later, but with no baby.
While Carrie Bradshaw-Crowther was found safe, numerous unanswered questions remain about her disappearance, including why she left, where she’d been and what happened to a possible baby.
The 49-year-old disappeared June 2 with her wallet, cell phone and van, relatives said, but she left behind her purse and suitcase. While her reported pregnancy was considered high-risk, her family said they had no reason to suspect anything had been wrong.
“She was happy, you know,” said her daughter, Lauren Lusk. "She was being her goofy self and singing and making up sounds about how she was gonna have a baby that day, so it’s a shock to all of us."
Bradshaw-Crowther’s disappearance set off a frantic search. Police searched nearby hospitals, to no avail.
Investigators finally found her Monday, after she used her ATM card at a CVS store 90 miles away from home.
In a statement, Drew Bradshaw, Bradshaw-Crowther’s brother, said she is “receiving much-needed medical care.” He further discussed the situation with ABC affiliate WSOC.
“I can’t tell you more than that," he said. "All I can say is we’re not expecting any new addition to the family."
