— -- The Coast Guard has been dispatched to rescue two “adventurers” who had trouble while attempting to kayak across the Bering Strait, according a Coast Guard spokesperson.

Both were wearing survival suits, the Coast Guard said.

The kayakers contacted their support choppers last night to let them know that due to ice and poor weather, they doubted they’d be able to finish their voyage from Wales, Alaska to Little Diomede Island. When conditions failed to improve, those choppers contacted the Coast Guard this morning.
