Pilot of plane that crashed into North Carolina home reported 'control issue': NTSB

Two people died and another was injured late Thursday when a plane slammed into a home in Hope Mills, North Carolina.

The pilot and one person in the home died at the scene, according to a statement from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. A third person "with serious injuries" was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Those three individuals have not been identified, authorities said.

Before the crash, the twin-engine Beechcraft Baron was in the traffic pattern at Fayetteville Regional Airport and reported "some kind of control issue" or "control problem to air traffic control," said Robert Gretz, a senior investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board.

Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration sent investigators to the scene, a representative told ABC News.

Gretz added that investigators are limited in what they can do without the proper equipment and tools. The wreckage will start being transferred on Saturday to the NTSB's facility, where investigators can "take a closer look at it," he added.

The cause of the crash is not yet known.

The NTSB will release a preliminary report on the crash within 10 business days of the accident.
