— -- The heroic actions of a Herriman, Utah, fire crew saved a cute dog from an icy cold fate on Monday.

Unified Fire Authority Captain Nathan Bogenschultz told ABC News that Tucker the dog had run onto the ice to chase after some ducks. The ice cracked and Tucker fell into the pond.

Bogenschultz said that Tucker had been stuck in the low 30-degree water for about 15 minutes before his fellow Unified Fire members arrived at the scene.

A video posted on Unified Fire’s social media sites shows paramedic Jason Ball decked out in cold weather swimming gear and hoisting the pup out of the chilly water.

Bogenschultz said dog owners should keep their dogs on a leash to avoid an accident like Tucker's. He also said to call 911 if a pet gets stuck in icy water.
