-- The body of 6-year-old Jenise Wright, who disappeared last week from her mobile home park, has been found, police said today.
“This is going to be a criminal investigation, there is no doubt about that,” said Kitsap County sheriff’s spokesman Scott Wilson.
A positive ID will be made by the coroner, but police said they have no doubt it's the little girl's body.
"The body will be turned over to the Kitsap County coroners office who will conduct an autopsy. They will determine that cause and manner of death," said Earl Schmidt, incident commander at the Kitsap County Sheriff's office.
A criminal investigation has been opened and efforts are being made to identify a suspect in the case, authorities said.
Jenise vanished on Saturday in Bremerton.
The remains were found in a wooded area near the Steele Creek Mobile Home Park, where the girl lived, police said.
Jenise was last seen the night of Aug. 2, her family told police. They reported her missing on Sunday night. Her parents waited a day before calling for help because they say the girl had wandered around the park on her own in the past.
