Many voiced concerns on social media as police continue to investigate the apparently random shots. Twenty cars have been fired at on area highways and roads since March 8, police said today.

Most were at the Grandview Triangle, a highway interchange in Kansas City.

"I don’t normally let this kind of stuff upset me, but it’s close to my house and I often have two kids in the car,” Megan Thurston wrote on Facebook. "I'm really worried."

Another commenter compared the shooter to the Washington, D.C. snipers who terrorized the Beltway for three weeks in 2002.

Many thanked police for increased presence on the roads.

Police warned drivers to be "vigilant" but said there isn’t any need to change routines.

Authorities also said that they have linked several of the shootings, but didn’t say how. There are no suspects. Three people have been hit by bullets, but no injuries were life-threatening, they said.
