Several Injured in Park Ride Mishap

M U S K E G O N, Mich., July 30 -- An amusement park ride tilted over at Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park today, leaving more than a dozen injured, according to broadcast reports.

The ride, called The Chaos, tilted over on its side earlier thisevening, Grand Rapids television station WOOD reported.

Four patients with minor injuries were taken to Muskegon'sHackley Hospital, and up to 17 were expected, a spokesman said.

Three patients were taken to Mercy General Hospital, saidspokeswoman Roberta King. She said they didn't appear to beseriously injured.

Rescue units and helicopters were on the scene, trying to removepeople from cars that were stuck in midair.

The Chaos is like a tilt-a-whirl, except its rotating disc tiltsup into the air while spinning riders around.

A park official confirmed there was an accident but did not havedetails. The park is located about 41 miles northwest of Grand Rapids.
