Eunice Kennedy Shriver in Critical Condition

B A L T I M O R E, Oct. 27 -- Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the sister of formerPresident John F. Kennedy, was hospitalized early today incritical condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital, a spokeswoman said.

The hospital would not release any other details.

Shriver, 79, had surgery Oct. 12 at Hopkins to remove a benignpancreatic tumor. Her doctor, Dr. James Cameron, said at the timethat the five-hour operation was “very successful” and heexpected her to make a full recovery.

Shriver is the mother of NBC-TV reporter Maria Shriver, who ismarried to actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Mark K. Shriver, adelegate to the Maryland General Assembly.
