Eunice Kennedy Shriver in Critical Condition

B A L T I M O R E, Oct. 27, 2000 -- Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the sister of former President John F. Kennedy, was hospitalized early today in critical condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital, a spokeswoman said.

The hospital would not release any other details.

Shriver, 79, had surgery Oct. 12 at Hopkins to remove a benign pancreatic tumor. Her doctor, Dr. James Cameron, said at the time that the five-hour operation was “very successful” and he expected her to make a full recovery.

Shriver is the mother of NBC-TV reporter Maria Shriver, who is married to actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Mark K. Shriver, a delegate to the Maryland General Assembly.
