1. Sandy Makes Landfall as Category 3
Hurricane Sandy made landfall as a Category 3 storm in Cuba overnight. Sandy sustained maximum winds of an estimated 110 miles an hour at landfall.

2. Wildfire Destroys 12 Houses in Colorado
A wildfire that forced hundreds of people to evacuate in southern Colorado has destroyed at least 12 houses, authorities said Wednesday. About 380 people were evacuated after the fire broke out on Tuesday.

3. Meningitis Outbreak Death Toll Hits 24
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported another death in the nationwide meningitis outbreak linked to contaminated steroid injections. The death toll now stands at 24.

4. Teen Arrested in Jessica Ridgeway Death
A 17-year-old boy who lived just 10 miles from Jessica Ridgeway – the 10 year old girl who was abducted and killed earlier this month -- was arrested in her death on Wednesday. Police in the Denver suburb said they took him into custody after reportedly getting a phone call from his mother.

5. Cruise Files $50M Suit Against Life & Style
An attorney for Tom Cruise said Wednesday that he filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against the publishers of Life & Style Magazine. The magazine is being sued for printing stories claiming Cruise abandoned his 6-year-old daughter Suri after splitting from Katie Holmes.
