1. Hospital Worker Who Handled Ebola Samples Is on Cruise Ship

A Dallas health care worker who handled clinical specimens from an Ebola-infected patient is on a cruise ship in the Caribbean - with the worker self-quarantined and being monitored for signs of infection, the State Department said in a statement.

According to the government statement, the worker departed on a cruise ship from Galveston, Texas on Oct. 12 and was out of the country before being notified of active monitoring required by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

That monitoring was established as two nurses at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Nina Pham and Amber Vinson, tested positive for Ebola.

2. Powerful Pacific Storm Churns Toward Hawaii

A powerful Pacific storm predicted to grow to hurricane force churned toward Hawaii, bringing with it heavy rains and potentially destructive winds that could begin hitting the state later Friday.

Forecasters said that the storm likely will bring 40 to 50 mph winds to the Big Island's Kau, Puna and South Kona districts.

"Right now, we expect the main impacts to be on the Big Island," National Weather Service meteorologist Ray Tanabe said Thursday. The weather service has issued a tropical storm watch for the island.

3. The Giants Win the Pennant!

Thursday might as well have been Oct. 3, 1951 all over again for the Giants.

San Francisco clinched a World Series berth Thursday, winning the pennant on a walk-off home run by first baseman Travis Ishikawa.

The game was tied 3-3 before Ishikawa’s blast, which cleared the right field bleachers at AT&T Park. Following the home run, Ishikawa skated and danced around the basepaths, seemingly failing to touch the ground. The team celebrated at home plate, a 6-3 victory for the chance to face the Kansas City Royals.

4. Channing Tatum: ‘I Have Never Considered Myself a Very Smart Person’

Despite his good looks, charm and natural athletic ability, Channing Tatum did not have an easy time as a teen.

In a recent interview, the A-list actor, 34, revealed that he struggled with A.D.H.D. and dyslexia, was prescribed stimulants and did poorly in school.

“I have never considered myself a very smart person, for a lot of reasons,” he told the latest edition of T, The New York Times style magazine. “Not having early success on that one path messes with you. You get lumped in classes with kids with autism and Down syndrome, and you look around and say, ‘OK, so this is where I’m at.’ Or you get put in the typical classes and you say, ‘All right, I’m obviously not like these kids either.’ So you’re kind of nowhere. You’re just different.”

5. Female Stars Respond to Call for 'Ghostbusters 3'

Now that "Ghostbusters 3" director Paul Feig has made it clear he’s looking for three “hilarious women” for the new movie, the female stars are lining up for the parts.

Earlier this month, Feig tweeted, "It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call.”

Now, some of those funny girls have responded.
