1. Grand Jury Expected to Vote in NYPD Chokehold Death Case

The Staten Island grand jury hearing testimony in the summertime chokehold death of Eric Garner is expected to vote on whether to charge NYPD cops as early as today, ABC News has learned.

That vote could be delayed. The grand jury could very well want more legal information or to hear from more witnesses. The grand jury is in total control of this closed-door process.

There is no word on when an announcement of the decision would come, though officials are expecting it by the end of the week – perhaps as early as Wednesday. The case is being watched closely since the grand jury in Ferguson last week declined to indict a Missouri cop who shot and killed unarmed teen Michael Brown, touching off violence and protests.

2. Possible Ebola Case Under Evaluation in Boston

An individual who had been under investigation for the Ebola virus was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital for evaluation, the Boston Public Health Commission said.

The BHC said the person was undergoing routine monitoring today at 2 p.m. when the determination was made to place the individual in a "specially prepared area within the hospital."

Diagnostic testing was under way and a diagnosis of Ebola has not been confirmed, the BHC said.

3. U.S. and Cuba Working On Solution to Free American Alan Gross From Cuban Jail

Today is the 5th anniversary of U.S. government contractor Alan Gross's arrest for espionage in Cuba, and ABC news has learned exclusive details about the 65-year-old’s frail physical condition and his even worse mental situation.

Last spring it was reported that Gross had lost more than 100 pounds, but today sources who have visited with Gross in the last week told ABC News his health has vastly deteriorated. He has lost all but one of his front teeth, can barely walk because of hip damage, and is blind in one eye.

Gross is no longer accepting visits or food from the U.S. Interest Section in Havana and refuses medical or dental care from the Cuban military hospital where he is being held. Because of mobility issues stemming from his deteriorating health, he stays in his room at the military hospital 24 hours a day. He is kept in a 10 by 20 foot dorm room with 2 other prisoners who speak no English.

4. Feds Arrest Man for Alleged Threats to Kill Ferguson Ex-Cop Darren Wilson

The FBI has arrested a Kirkland, Washington, man for making threats to kill former Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson. According to a criminal complaint filed in federal court in Seattle, Jaleel Tariq Abdul-Jabbaar, made numerous threats against Wilson and his family on his Facebook page.

Abdul-Jabbaar’s Facebook page described in court papers contains numerous posts calling for Wilson to be killed. A news report reposted his page with the headline, “ANONYMOUS Posts Information on Officer Darren Wilson’s Location and His Friend,” Abdul-Jabbaar allegedly comments, “We the oppressed people need to kill this white cop.”

5. About 100 Brains Missing From University of Texas

The University of Texas at Austin is missing about 100 brains, about half of the specimens the university had in a collection of brains preserved in jars of formaldehyde.

One of the missing brains is believed to have belonged to clock tower sniper Charles Whitman.

"We think somebody may have taken the brains, but we don't know at all for sure," psychology Professor Tim Schallert, co-curator of the collection, said.
